The BIOS is on the latest level already.
I've upgraded mplayer to the latest svn and since then I have no fast
video issue, but instead the playback hangs.
Surprisingly, using the old mplayer it behaves the same, it hangs randomly.

When it hangs (still picture and sound) the CPU hits 100%. But I can
easily get out of that hitting Ctrl-C. Every time I do that I get this
message
MPlayer interrupted by signal 2 in module: sleep_timer

mc=0 has no real effect on any of the issues I have.
