[MPlayer-users] Newer versions of mencoder don't believe I have v4l, older versions get it right

Hello,

I run slackware, (I've tried this with slack 10.2 and the new 11).  I run it
with 2.6.18 kernel though.
I have tried building from source MPlayer-1.0pre8 and  1.0rc1,  using the
configure, make, make
make install drill.  mplayer works fine playing previously captured AVI
files.  But mencoder
complains that there's no v4l2 device.  I use the following script for
capturing shows off of
USA TV ntsc broadcasts:
mencoder -tv
driver=v4l2:width=640:height=480:norm=ntsc:chanlist=us-bcast:channel=$5:device=/dev/video0
-ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=900 -oac mp3lame -lameopts
cbr:br=64 -vop pp=lb -endpos $1:$2:$3 -o $4 tv://$5

However, MPlayer-1.0pre7. works just fine!  I've had to stay with pre7 for
just that reason.

I've tried going into the configure script to force it to believe v4l2 is
there without success.

Does anybody have any idea what's wrong?  Anybody else run into this?
