I didn't read it in detail, but it sounds like pure overkill to me what
they are doing, and doesn't seem to support that many features...
Anyway, it would be a lot of work to implement, I wouldn't assume anyone
will do that anytime soon (is at all)...

Yes, a file containing a list with all the filenames, one per line. I
think nearly every program supports that (and if not a simple shell
script or even xargs alone can help)...
