Haven't tested, but I'm surprised if they wouldn't work just like any
ordinary TV.

I think each field is just saved into memory and displayed twice.
Ie. it is there to remove flicker, probably not to make motion any
smoother.

To make motion smoother, you would need very good motion estimation and
compensation for middle fields, which would be more expensive than anybody
could afford =)
