You can either do fresh checkout with:

cvs -z3 -d:ext:LOGIN at mplayerhq.hu:/cvsroot/mplayer co -P main

Or edit all CVS/Root files as Michael said (find . -name Root; #there are 
quite a lot of them).
Change the contents from:
:pserver:anonymous at mplayerhq.hu:/cvsroot/mplayer
or
:pserver:YOURLOGINNAME at mplayerhq.hu:/cvsroot/mplayer

to
:ext:YOURLOGINNAME at mplayerhq.hu:/cvsroot/mplayer
