Yes.

With -ass subtitles work fine, but with -noass they are not 
displayed. (To be sure after reverting libass and before 
compilation I made $ make distclean.)

And my apologies, -ass works fine with svn head (it was slightly 
broken subtitle file), but with -noass I still can't see 
subtitles.
