I noticed over the last 3 years that there is a big downward trend of uses 
posting for help and questions being answered.  More on questions not being 
answered.  Particularly low from 2014.  The archives will show a pattern in 
the downloadable version column:

Don't misunderstand this.  MEncoder is still valid and works to some extent. 
I was told in this mailing list in 2011 that it is no longer maintained, and 
had not been for several years.  I did see this repeated a few times by a 
programming team member in a few posts from 2011 onwards.

Don't let me put you off.  Experiment if you want.  I still use it.  I found 
the Man page and 87 document files a great learning curve.  Better than 
FFmpeg's.
