Please note that at the same time the MPlayer server was moved (and we therefore
had no write access to svn), FFmpeg was updated to a new major version.
Therefore, compilation problems were unavoidable, they are fixed now (at least
for the common case).

FFmpeg was always "allowed" to break MPlayer compilation at any time. I do not
remember that it was ever broken for more than a few hours (yesterday was the
exception, see above), your advantage is that every FFmpeg bugfix/feature is
immediately visible to MPlayer users.

(All this applies to MEncoder to a limited degree, at least ac3 encoding will be
fixed soon.)
