hi there,
I'm trying to use mencoder on ubuntu (MEncoder 2:1.0~rc2-0ubuntu13+medibuntu1 / MPlayer 1.0rc2-4.2.3) to encode some video but it exits with an error:
==========================================================================
Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x66766478.
Read DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html!
==========================================================================
I can easily overcome this by specifying "-vc +ffmpeg12" (I know that video is mpeg2)
mencoder detects everything about the file:
Quicktime/MOV file format detected.
[mov] Video stream found, -vid 0
[mov] Audio stream found, -aid 1
VIDEO: [xdvf] 1920x1080 24bpp 29.970 fps 0.0 kbps ( 0.0 kbyte/s)
[V] filefmt:7 fourcc:0x66766478 size:1920x1080 fps:29.97 ftime:=0.0334
but it doesn't know anything about "xdvf"
I tried to customize codecs.conf and describe "xdvf" but mencoder complains (using codecs.conf from svn):
"This codecs.conf is too old and incompatible with this MPlayer release! at line 6"
where should I describe [xdvf] format and which codecs mencoder should use?
thanks
