Hello everybody,
I am trying to digitize a bunch of sony video8 tapes. I thought of
converting them to dv format in order to edit them later with kino.
As far as I could see, kino itself does not provide import from
/dev/video device, so I tried mencoder:
mencoder -tv driver=v4l2:width=720:height=576 tv:// -o file.avi -ovc
libdv -of avi
and
mencoder -tv driver=v4l2 tv:// -vop scale=720:576 -o file.avi -ovc libdv -of avi
These settings work more or less: I do get a file, whch I can open
with kino, but it has wrong aspect ratio, and -- I guess -- is
oversampled. However, whenever I tried to use different width and
height parameters I got error messages, which implied that I can only
use dv format with 720x576.
Please help me to figure out the right parameters for mencoder.
Regards,
Victor
