Call me crazy, but wouldn't it be smarter to use -ofps 24000/1001 with
-speed 1.001 to get exactly 24fps?   (you'll also have to resample
the audio in the process)

Of course, I would either fix the bug in mp4box, or use another tool
without such a bug (perhaps mpeg4ip or see if lavf works).
