er, NT 5 = win 2000, not xp

i dont have mingw installed on this computer to see the rights, but since i run with admin access
i'm sure its not a permission problem but more of a program error. or in the way mplayer accesses
the codec... its a very troublesome codec ;\ i think the final outcome on linux was someone had to
add to the wine code mplayer uses to open codecs.

that error comes from a window which is titled 'Mvicod32 Exception Handler'
"A fatal error has occured in the Motion Pixels codec!"
"Please update your video/system drivers before reporting this problem"
"If the problem still exists please contact Motion Pixels at www.motionpixels.com"

then follows that with the error i pasted.

mplayer -v works normally until it loads the dll, then the window pops up, after clicking ok on the window
mplayer exists without error. the file is cut off a moviecd that i own, the file works in the motion pixels
program.

Ah, an obiwan for me on which NT version... But anyhow, it looks like maybe you can run a registry snooper to find what gets accessed when it works correctly on the Motionpixel software, which is what will need to be added for mplayer's reg loading. Send that info along if you can, if not, is the motionpixels sw freeware, shareware or commercial? If free/share, upload a sample of the moviecd and codec, along with the sw for us to work on it as well.
