i uploaded a new version of subfont-gimp in incoming. the previous version wrongly aligned chars to 4-byte boundary instead of 8-byte. also this version takes the encoding from the selected font, and if there is an unicode mapping for this encoding (available from www.unicode.org) creates the font.desc with unicode mapping.
