with, or without the 60000/1001, mencoder still thinks I have 1829 
frames, whereas I have almost that many fields ( 914fields *2 = 1828 )

It almost appears that I have 60i at 60hz, which appears to be 
reinterperted to 29.97 at 30hz. 60i at 30hz appears wrong.
