[MPlayer-users] can't play voice recordings under ubuntu

Many thanks to Stan <gyvoy at q.com>, Stephen Mollett and Reimar
Doeffinger for very helpful ideas. I learned a lot. 

I couldn't finished debugging because the problem want away 24h ago as
mysteriously as it had started the previous week. Reimar's hypothesis
of a poor contact sounds reasonable; if and when the problem recurs
(hopefully never!) I'll continue testing.
