You will have to debug yourself.
While in principle it should work (assuming you used the correct
compiler flags etc.), I am not aware of anyone trying to run MPlayer on
ancient ARMv5 architecture hardware. The only stuff I have at hand is
even AMRv7 with NEON (though I admit those SoCs are not usually suitable
for truly embedded stuff that need lots of GPIO etc.)...
Moreover, the "FATAL: kernel too old" message comes from glibc, not
MPlayer, so your basic system installation seems to be broken in some
way.
(That is besides the point that using the 3.1 - not to mention 3.1.0 - kernel is
a really silly idea, 3.2 would at least be a long-term support kernel, and if 3.1 is
your only choice I'd strongly recommend to reconsider your choice of
platform, riding dead horses isn't a very good way to do things, as
popular as it seems to be in the embedded systems world).
