Are you sure you want that? A lot of systems do that kind of thing (for
example the upmix ALSA plugin, or the default stereo -> 5.1 conversion), but
I have decided for myself this is not a good idea: mixing the left and right
channels for the center speaker will only reduce the contrast between left
and right.

Maybe something better could be done by decomposing left and right into a
common part and two distinct parts, but this is way more complex.
