[MPlayer-users] redirect issues with proxy

I've run into problems playing files through a proxy server (with authentication) if the target URL redirects to a different URL, as is the case with files on archive.org for instance. It appears that the proxy settings are not applied to the redirect and the connection times out. There's a really old post about this in the archives,

Does anyone know if this has been or is planned to be addressed?
