Maybe your system just isn't beefy enough to handle a 1920x800 MP4.
In order to get 720x480 movies to play jitterless on an ASUS X101
netbook (http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_PC/Eee_PC_X101/#specifications), I
had to down-convert movies from a bitrate of about 2000 Kbps to about
1300 Kbps.
