[MPlayer-users] Aspect-ratio problems with directx driver

 well it seems that second window you showed, maintains aspect ratio. only
thing is that it cant fullscreen or adapt to the plyaer's window. i had a
few problems with some lib things last week. but im running linux. have you
tyied other mplayer frontend gui?
idk if on windows is possible, but on linux we can run mplayer via cli.

on cli go to the dir where the file is and try something like:mplayer.exe
<filename.mkv>
(on linux one simply types: filename.mkv . im not sure mplayer works like
this on windows.)
see how it goes. it might be the GUI, for the looks of it.
