I have to correct my previous statements: apparently, it only happens

Other Blu-rays I have (both h264 and VC-1) do not show this behavior.

Tested it against selected mplayer versions: r34000 shows the same 
behavior, so does r33900 and 33800. 33700 doesn't compile anymore.
