[MPlayer-users] playback on a media player

There is a hardware media player made by ViewSonic. It has a bug with
decoding of large DivX5 made with mencoder (that is, -oac copy -ovc lavc
-lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4...). Whenever you use fast forward or rewind during a
playback of such an AVI (larger than 1 GB), video becomes delayed by a
second or so. I tested what happens if I encode with -ovc xvid, and --
surprise -- changing position in a file works perfectly: no desync. So, what
is so special about lavc? Are there encoding parameters to force correct
synchronisation during playback?
