Since it's USB I guess everything is possible but this is quite ridiculous.
When I said "unnecessarily high CPU usage" I was thinking more of something like
3% instead of 1% CPU usage for audio-only at worst.

Of course it seems quite silly to me to capture at 96 kHz, I don't think
a radio channel has enough bandwidth for even full 48 kHz quality.
However 300 kB/s isn't really much, not even for USB...
