I do not have to change anything. I just argued that the possibility to
make mplayer fail if audio or video can not be played is not entirely
nonsense.
I'd prefer it to be _not_ the default, but I think that would require a
new command line switch. For my taste, mplayer has to many already. So I
proposed a way to implement that function, controllable by existing
command line switches.
Ok, here's another one:
Create new dummy drivers for audio and video, called "stop" or "fail".
The drivers don't do anything, they just make mplayer exit when probed.
If in a -vo or -ao list all the preceeding drivers can't be used, the
"stop" driver will be invoked, stopping mplayer and thus avoiding
playing audio only or video only.
