[MPlayer-users] Effective RTP (over UDP) timeout?

Does anyone know what the timeout value is that is used during play of an RTP video stream?  My mplayer is compiled using live555.  I've looked through the live555 and mplayer source and my best guess is that the timeout is 30 seconds and that it is mplayer that detects the timeout, not live555.  It is not clear to me how or if the live555 RTP Client gives up on an RTP stream.
