Thanks to both - I figured out I hadn't installed the MSYS core tools,
so when I was trying to do a ./configure, it just didn't do anything.
I shouldn't send the list notes when I'm frustated, I never give
enough info.
Linux and Mac were easy, I just didn't realize how much environment
needed to be set up on Win.
