[MPlayer-users] newbie (I hope) question: inserting videos on a stream

It seems that EDT does not fit my case.
My idea was to silence the stream for a few seconds and in which playing my short movies. But I can't do it in the same instance of mplayer.

Any help on using the same instance of mplayer? Or definitely it is not possible?
