It wasn't so much confusing as presumably the context has been. Looking
back, I didn't further check on the details because OP said he used it
in a script, which led me to assume a kind of "did literally work that
way but doesn't anymore" situation.

While at it, the example status line he gives actually doesn't
correspond with what I see here. So could be he used a version from a
while back and his inquiry was really about that format change ... ?

And hey, nice you didn't take that much of an offense. Cool move, duly
