[MPlayer-users] mplayer not always connect to vlc stream

I am using vlc to stream a linksys camera with the following command on 
on machine:
/usr/bin/vlc -I dummy -V dummy --quiet --http-reconnect 
http://admin:admin@192.168.1.176/img/video.asf --sout 
#std{access=http,mux=asf,dst=:8100}

On mplayer I run the command on a second machine:
/usr/local/bin/mplayer -v -v -v -monitoraspect 16:9 -ao alsa:noblock -fs 
-noconsolecontrols                      -endpos 70 http://192.168.1.8:8100

mplayer does not reliably connect to the stream. It thinks it gets end 
of file (see below).
But then I can run it again and this time it would connect.

Am I not starting something up right?         both machines are centos 
5. mplayer svn r27249. and vlc 0.8.5.

What might be happening that it doesnt always sync up.
