Hello all,
I'm getting the following error when playing some DVDs:

Exiting... (End of file)
This happens sometimes with a random set of DVDs which I own, and has
only just started to happen. Previously I have been able to play said
DVDs just fine.
I thought at first maybe my DVD drive was dirty -- so I bought a DVD
lens cleaner and used that -- no problem there, the DVDs aren't
skipping or anything, but I thought it best to rule out the bleeding
obvious first. The DVD drive in question is an LG one:
HL-DT-STDVD-RAM GSA-H55L. I found the following post in the archives
here:
http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-users/2005-February/051541.html
Which talks of DVD-RAM drives being problematic; something to do with
firmware. But that was over three years ago now, does something like
that still apply, and if so, what is it I would have to do for it?
For completeness' sake, I also tried to use vobcopy to "rip" the
contents of the DVD to file. Unfortunately, this "failed" in so much
that the size of the files were completely out -- viewing the file
does indeed exit early at the same place it had whilst watching the
DVD with mplayer.
Can someone please shed any light on this? My Mplayer version:
% mplayer -version
MPlayer 1.0rc2-4.2.3 (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz (Family: 6,
Model: 15, Stepping: 7)
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1
Compiled with runtime CPU detection.
Running on ArchLinux. If it matters, my libdvdcss version is: 1.2.9-2
Many thanks,
