I don't have the startup delay with -stop-xscreensaver. However, I
do have the following issue:

    - Watching a video (using mplayer with -stop-xscreensaver)
    - I pause the video
    - The video remains paused longer than xscreensaver's timeout
    - Xscreensaver comes on
    - I un-pause the video: xscreensaver quits, the video resumes

At this point, however, it is as though I never had
-stop-xscreensaver in the commandline: even though the video is
playing, after the xscreensaver timeout, the screensaver will come
back on. So I have to completely stop and restart the video, then
fast forward to where I left off.

I have MPlayer 1.0rc1-4.1.1 on Gentoo Linux.

Thanks,
Matt
