Don't expect any support using old, unofficial binaries.  Not to mention
that you didn't include the output of MPlayer playing the file, or any
other useful info.

It also sounds like it's a bug in your videocard drivers, not mplayer. 
It could be as simple as XV on your card only handling certain
resolutions, so you can try -vf scale to test other sizes.
