Actually, I beg to differ. MythTV manages to stream videos ranging  
from 320x240 to 720x480 (ranging from 2Mbit to 8 Mbit) on my network,  
and in many situations (none that I've witness, but have heard about  
on the Myth ML) HDTV (as high as 20 Mbit) has been streamed over  
people's networks (I think they were 100 Mbit, possibly Gbit). It is  
worth noting that these videos aren't being transcoded as they're  
being sent, but this is a proof-of-concept situation. These machines  
weren't even that fast. My Myth system used to consist of a Celeron  
600 (256 MB of RAM) and a modified Celeron 733 (64 MB of RAM, an  
XBox). However, granted that if a lossless video codec was used, it  
would be significantly higher.
