[MPlayer-users] Ubuntu 64 and Audigy Surround 5.1

I am running Ubuntu Dapper 10.06.1 on AMD 64 ASUS A8N SLI with Audigy Live! 
soundcard and 5.1 analogue speakers, mplayer version 
2:0.99+1.0pre7try2+cvs20060117-0ubuntu8

I can get stereo in all speakers but not 5.1 s-sound. It worked ok in SuSE 8.1 
on my old AMD XP2200.  I have looked in Ubuntu, Alsa and Mplayer lists and 
cannot see an answer.

Attached is the stdout for mplayer mplayer dvd://6 -cache 8192 -v -ao 
alsa:device=hw=0,0 -aid 128 -channels 6

I have also tried it with no alsa:device args and I get nosound at all. I 
installed the Audigy drivers as per modprobe snd-emu10k1
