[MPlayer-users] Subtitles are not displayed correctly.

Hi,

the problem:

I'm encountering problem with subtitles using some slovak/czech
characters. Most of them are displayed correctly, but there are
exceptions: instead of 'š' (in ISO 8859-2 the hex value 0xB9) it
displays 'ź' (0xBF), also instead of 'ž' (0xBE) there is 'ź' (0xBF). The
character 'ý' (0xFD) is not displayed at all. Also some combination of
characters have mixed order. For example the word 'těším' is displayed
as 'tíźěm' - the charachter 'š' is not only wrongly displayed but the
character-order is altered. (I hope the characters in this mail will be
displayed correctly, I've set the mail encoding to ISO 8859-2).

what I've tried:

This behaviour was not present in mplayer-1.0pre7, but with
mplayer-1.0pre8 it is present. I've downloaded today (19.7.2006) the SVN
version, but the problem is still present. I was checking the the fonts
in ~/.mplayer/font directory. As the subtitles are encoded in CP1250,
I've used the 'Arial - Central European (CP1250)' font pack - but the
problem was still present. Then I've converted the subtitles from cp1250
encoding into ISO 8859-2 (using the cstocs utility). I've copied the
fonts from 'Arial - Central European (ISO 8859-2)' font pack, but the
problem was the same.

what I'm using:

I'm running Slackware-current, the kernel is 2.6.17.4 PREEMPT on AMD
Athlon XP 3000+. The example of subtitles which are causing me the
problems can be found at
http://www.pieskovisko.sk/~roger/subtitles_example.tar.bz2.

Thank you for any help,

Roger
