Way too loud mastering of CDs causes this clipping. It'll show up on any mp3
made of such a CD.

I went through all mp3s I've present in my music folder:
 (downloaded from world wide sources from 1997 onwards)
Out of total1290 files 20 files start with bleep.
I ran encspot to identify the encoder used on those 20 files, and almost all
trouble files are encoded using Blade:
Blade: 17 files
QdesignFast: 1 file
Xing(new): 1 file
FHG(fastenc or mp3enc): 1 file

Seems like blade is most likely encoder to generate a frame (ISO
compliant??) where mplayer chokes on.
BTW: Not all blade encoded files have this problem: amongst the 1290 files
enough blade encoded files start OK

Unfortunately, I'm running mplayer in geexbox.
Adding libmad requires full recompile and addition of libmad package to
geexbox
As an average user, I didn't succeed, and decided to "upgrade" trouble files
using p2p (or transcode).
