[MPlayer-users] New installation is not picking up codecs

Yes, unfortunately, since the win32 codecs are 32-bit, they don't work 
with a 64-bit mplayer. You can still use a 32-bit mplayer with an 
athlon64 and a 64-bit kernel, but you won't get the performance benefit 
(small, but significant).

Personally, I maintain a 32-bit mplayer in a chroot for the odd occasion 
when I want to play something that requires a win32 codec, and use 
64-bit mplayer the rest of the time.
