Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately it hasn't helped. I am getting
the same errors, plus I have the following over and over from dmesg:

hda: command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hda: command error: error=0x50 { LastFailedSense=0x05 }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
end_request: I/O error, dev hda, sector 4630488

I have played the DVD in an XBox (which isn't exactly the highest
quality hardware ;-)) and it plays fine there too. Maybe its something
in my kernel configuration?
