Do you have an "-alang" option in your mplayer.conf?  You didn't specify
one on the command line.  Something like "-alang en" on the command-line
might get it to work.

"-v -v -v" is quite a bit more verbose than necessary, you might want to
use just a single "-v" for future logs.
