Not quite so. AFAIK this container is part of the MPEG-4 standard, and
it's a modified Apple QuickTime container.

Container, yes. Stream, no. AFAIK you can compress the video using -ovc
x264 and then remux to mp4 container using mp4box, though I haven't done
this myself.
