[MPlayer-users] Dealing with a strange NTSC DVD

I have an NTSC DVD which appears to be neither telecined nor
interlaced. When playing it with il=d, 2 out of every 6 field pairs
appear as though they've been passed through a blend deinterlacer. As
the movie is Norwegian, it could have been in 25 fps PAL format once,
and converted into NTSC from that. It would be nice to find a way to
encode it smarter than by just deinterlacing it, but I can't come up
with anything. Perhaps someone here can? A clip of the movie is at
