Yes, but I assumed the original poster wants to run mplayer only on the
remote computer (your way of doing it eliminates the bandwidth problem
mostly, but you loose the ability to seek), and thus streaming the
uncompressed data via the X protocol.
I think the netstream thing in the TOOLS dir was supposed for things
like this, but it usually doesn't compile :-(.
Btw. I forgot the audio in my calculation...
