Have a look in input.conf -- thats where all the key bindings are done.

I just got my media keyboard working, and mplayer uses them 
out-of-the-box -- i didn't do a thing. Funny thing is.. when I checked 
my input.conf and I couldn't find anything about multimedia keys! Nice!

MPlayer-1.0pre4-try(2-or-something). (mplayer -version doesn't say which 
try).
