Have you tried to play with codec.ffmpeg_pp_quality in ~/.xine/config?
The online help says videos might look blurry if the value is too high
for them, maybe setting this value to 0 helps.

Is Vidix not available for the Voodoo3? For me it gives the best results
with my G400.
