[MPlayer-users] [BUG] Annoying problem running v4l2

There are actually no errors that show up but after a reboot if I try playing or recording using v4l2 from my tv card (pinnacle pctv pro) i get a screwed up picture.
To fix this I have to run the same command but change it to v4l then after that v4l2 works perfectly.

I usually forget about this since I only reboot for kernel upgrades (currently 2.6.0) or hardware upgrades and may last months on one kernel. But now I want this fixed since just yesterday I missed a important show I wanted to see since I rebooted 2 days ago for a new case fan.

The command I use to record shows is 

mencoder\

 -oac lavc -ovc copy\

How can I change this so that when run after a reboot my picture is not totally screwed up
