I just tried installing earlier versions of MPlayer (1.0pre2 and 0.92). Both fails the same way!

Another thing. When I try mplayer mpeg movies (and perhaps others) I sometimes get this:

subtitle font: load_sub_face failed.
A: 4.1 V: 3.2 A-V: 0.910 ct: 0.253 77/ 77 3% 126% 0.7% 50 0 0%

Possible reasons, problems, workarounds:
- Most common: broken/buggy _audio_ driver
  - Try -ao sdl or use ALSA 0.5 or the OSS emulation of ALSA 0.9.
  - Experiment with different values for -autosync, 30 is a good start.
- Slow video output
  - Try a different -vo driver (-vo help for a list) or try -framedrop!
- Slow CPU
  - Don't try to play a big DVD/DivX on a slow CPU! Try -hardframedrop.
- Broken file
  - Try various combinations of -nobps -ni -forceidx -mc 0.
- Slow media (NFS/SMB mounts, DVD, VCD etc)
  - Try -cache 8192.
- Are you using -cache to play a non-interleaved AVI file?
  - Try -nocache.
Read DOCS/video.html and DOCS/sound.html for tuning/speedup tips.
If none of this helps you, read DOCS/bugreports.html.

I never experienced anything like this on my Athlon XP 1800+ machine! Are there some compiling options I should give to avoid this? And anyone with ideas/solutions to my .wmv problem?

Anders
