Thanks for reply.
Problem resolved. Created by the fact that even though libavcodec was on
the system as debian libraries and in /usr/local/ffmpeg, the
subdirectory libavcodec had to exist in the source tree of
/usr/local/MPlayer/main/ to be autodetected as it is not automatically
included in the cvs but is in all other builds.
