I encoded from AC3 to MP3

well it should be something like:
mencoder -dvd 1 -oac mp3lame -ovc frameno -o frameno.avi
for audio
mencoder -dvd 1 -oac copy -ovc xvid -xvidencopts 
bitrate=SELECTEDBITRATE:pann=PASSNUM -o out.avi
for video
