[MPlayer-users] high-pitched sound during mencoder recordings

Hi,

I'm having some trouble with the audio quality of my
TV recordings produced with mencoder.

When I use mencoder to watch TV regularly, the sound
is perfect but when I play recordings I've made they
all have a distinct high-pitched sound throughout the
video. Apart from that, the audio part is ok but the
high-pitched tone is just bothering.

Any idae what might be causing this?

I've tested this on mplayer 1.0 and 0.92 with my
2.4.18 kernel using Debian Woody. The soundcard is a
C-Media CM8738 on-board chip, and I have a bt878 TV
adapter.

PS: Anyone managed to use the btaudio.o module from
the kernel with mencoder? I haven't been successful
with any /dev/dsp? device other than /dev/dsp. Hints
concerning this are welcome as well!
