I didn't meant to abandon it, you'd just be configuring it slightly 
differently (X11 would combine the two monitors into one display instead of 
the nVidia drivers doing it.)

Well, I'm glad you got it to work, but that does seem like quite a bit of 
effort to go to just to watch a movie! ;-)
